She Bought Him a Gift
Her boss has stood by her side in many instances, and she decided to include him in her gift list. She got him a tie that was within an average price, nothing fancy, still keeping it professional, and he liked it so much.
The Husband was Passive Aggressive
The issue started when Olivia’s husband, Michael, received the Christmas gift she bought him, which was a pair of sunglasses that she thought he liked. He didn’t say he didn’t like it, but he has a bit of a passive attitude and doesn’t express his honest opinions.
The Husband Demands a Swap
On Monday, Michael showed up at Olivia’s workplace and told her boss to trade the gift she gave him with his. Michael clearly found out what Olivia got for her boss by looking at her list. Her boss notified her while she was out, and she couldn’t believe it. She went home and just blew up at Michael for going to her workplace and bullying her boss into trading gifts with him.
She was Told to Keep Out of it
Michael said it was between him and her boss, and she should stay out of it and not overreact. Olivia told him she had always maintained a good and professional relationship with her boss, and what he did damaged their professional relationship.
She was Misunderstood
Michael doesn’t know her boss at all and hasn’t met him personally to be this comfortable with him. He said that her boss is “human,” and she should stop walking on eggshells just to keep her job, but that wasn’t her point.
A Huge Argument
They had a huge argument over that, and Michael said that, unlike women, as men don’t see it as a big issue and are less concerned with this type of “etiquette”. However, Olivia’s boss was obviously weirded out and upset, and it WAS a big deal since he wanted to speak to her ASAP. Michael also said it’s basically Olivia’s fault he didn’t like the original gift she bought for him, and that is on her.

They were both mad and have basically been arguing with each other ever since. Olivia was so grieved by the situation she was faced with that she decided to head online to ask a popular internet forum for advice.
