They Had A Happy Marriage
The woman explained, “I’ve been in a committed relationship with my husband for 17 years, and overall, things have been great. We’ve had a few rough patches, but what’s important to note is that while he earns more than me and is considered the main provider, I have a substantial trust fund that ensures we’re financially stable.”
But Disagreed On Some Things
She added, “One ongoing issue we have is my husband’s frugality. He likes to control my spending and have the final say on how he uses his earnings. It’s worth mentioning that I’ve never used any of his income and have no intention to do so.”
He Went To Food Banks
Even though they have more than enough food at home, he insisted on going to food banks to save money. He went to great lengths to blend in, intentionally looking disheveled and used their beat-up car.
She Tried To Change His Mind
The woman tried to explain the importance of food donations in their community, even showing him social media posts from local food banks, but he remained indifferent. She suggested he volunteer or donate to gain firsthand experience, but he refused.
The Food Was Going To Waste
Most of the food he brought home was thrown away since they were never short on food. One day, the woman discovered their fridge filled with fresh produce and meat that didn’t come from their regular grocery store.
He Came Clean
She confronted him and he admitted to going to a food bank after seeing a Facebook post about a donation of fresh food.
She Needed Some Space
Exhausted by the situation, she packed a bag and went to stay with her brother for the weekend, seeking some space to think things over. The husband accused her of overreacting and being vindictive. He even threatened to continue going to food banks regardless of her feelings.
His Family Were Angry
To make matters worse, his family started messaging her, calling her a jerk, and urging her to stop interfering with his choices. Frustrated, she turned off her phone, but the messages started bombarding her brother instead.
She Felt Conflicted
Thankfully, her brother supported her decision and ignored the family’s messages. While she could have let the issue go and avoided scolding him, she felt it was wrong that the food was being taken away from those who needed it.

Leaving her husband was not her intention, but she needed a few days away to gain some clarity. She was left questioning whether she was wrong for wanting this space.
