He explained that there is a term for a parent who removed all obstacles from their children’s path – the snowplow parent. The man felt that the children of these parents are incapable of doing anything for themselves.
He Wanted To Raise His Daughter Right
The man said, “I don’t want her to end up like one of these kids.” So he went to quite extreme lengths to ensure his daughter wouldn’t grow up without facing obstacles in life.
He Knew The Consequences Of Debt
Even though the man was financially comfortable and well aware of the burden that student debt imposed on people, he refused to pay for her tuition.
She Struggled To Find Financial Support
The man even acknowledged his own firsthand experience with such financial challenges from tuition debt. However, his daughter told him that their wealth disqualifies her from receiving financial aid.
She Was In A Difficult Situation
This meant his daughter had limited options available to her to fund her education. Leaving her worried not only about the debt it would leave her in, but about also where she would secure funding from in the first place!

So, his daughter confronted him about this, but he remained steadfast in his decision. He had had to face the obstacle of paying off tuition fee debt, and thought that challenge had done him good in life, so why shouldn’t his daughter?
