A married individual with two young daughters lived in an apartment complex characterized by duplexes and limited parking space. Everything was fine until a new neighbor started parking in the person’s favorite space.
Perfect Parking Visibility
The family lived on the main street of the complex, offering excellent parking convenience with spots nearby and a direct line of sight from their living room window to their car.
The Perfect Spot
For the family, there was one spot in particular that they deemed perfect due to its convenience. It was just 15 feet away from the apartment and was visible from their living room.
Always Parking Available
The parking situation was typical for an apartment complex, with spots available, albeit limited, at all times. However, if the individual arrived home late, especially after 9 P.M., it generally meant not having the luxury of choosing a prime spot.
However, there was something unusual about this space that prevented it from being perfect. The person explained, “The problem is this spot technically has a dividing white line. So it does appear to be two spots – everyone can agree on that”.
Not Enough Space
This bizarre design made the otherwise perfect spot impractical to use. “If two cars park here, you cannot open the car doors nearest the other car. it is impossible”, continued the individual.
A New Neighbor Arrives
A new tenant, parking in the adjoining space for about two weeks, began sharing the space with the family. The space was so tight that both cars had to be carefully parked to avoid door dings, and the tenant had to fold in their passenger mirror to ensure a safe fit.
Navigating a Narrow Space
To make matters worse, both tenants had to exit their cars by stepping onto raised grass, as the tight quarters did not permit the car doors to open fully. This arrangement required meticulous maneuvering to avoid damaging vehicles and began to frustrate the individual.
A Message Sent
With their family away, the person decided to take action by parking slightly over the dividing line to prevent the neighbor from parking next to them.
Clarifying Their Ownership
The individual explained that whilst they don’t own the space, they don’t understand why their new neighbors keep parking there and inconveniencing them. “NO ONE else EVER parks next to me”, they exclaimed. “If I come home and the spot is taken I simply park somewhere else. I just feel it is rude to park so close to someone else THAT THEY CAN’T OPEN THEIR DOOR!”
Naturally, the double-parked car caused drama in the neighborhood. The individual discovered a note the next morning, reading “nice parking”, written sarcastically next to an inappropriate drawing.
The individual found themselves at a crossroads, pondering whether their parking stance made them selfish. They recognized that the space was not theirs and they were not entitled to it. However, they believed it was also not practical for two cars to park there at once, so they felt it was fair to send a message to their neighbor.
The individual headed online to see what other people thought, hoping that everyone would agree the neighbor was being a pain. However, this was not the case, with many readers expressing their disdain for the individual. “This person is going to find their car damaged one day if they continue to act like this”, remarked one person.
One Word – Immature
Many commenters expressed their shock regarding what the person was admitting online. “There’s no way a married adult person with children wrote this lmao”, laughed one amused reader.
“You have way more faith in humanity than I do”, joked another.
Double Parking Jerk
Unfortunately for the individual, the internet was united in believing the individual was being immature and selfish. In response to the story, one of the most popular comments simply read: “All these words just to say he double parks like a jerk’.
