Seated behind the traveler was a mother with her child, approximately 5 or 6 years old. Right from the start, the child began tossing their toy over the seat in front of the traveler.

However, by the third time, the constant intrusion was wearing thin. “It was a total nuisance, and he actually hit me on the head the second time”, the traveler wrote. Upon landing, the mother felt compelled to lecture the traveler in line. “She said that I was inconsiderate for making the flight so difficult for her and her kid”, the woman remembered. “I told her that she’s responsible for her kid and that I wasn’t a babysitter or a butler.”

The traveler truly felt at ease with their conscience. Whilst they recognized that the child was making its mother’s life a misery, they knew this wasn’t their responsibility. Once or twice was fine, but at this point, the woman should have put the toy away, instead of allowing the traveler to be disturbed incessantly.
After the flight, the traveler recounted the events to their friends. “One of my friends has kids, and she thought I was being unreasonable, so I’m not sure anymore”, the traveler wrote.
