A woman held an undying love for strawberries, maintaining an enormous strawberry patch in her garden to satisfy her cravings for the fruit. However, she was not the only person in her neighborhood who loved strawberries, and this would soon lead to a problem – strawberry thieves.

The woman was seriously obsessed with strawberries. In total, she calculated that she cultivated over 300 strawberry plants in her garden every year.

Despite eating an awful lot of strawberries, the woman always had leftovers. To make use of them, she would make her own strawberry jam, which she would use herself and also gift to friends and family.
Sharing Her Leftovers
Even then, there would still be plenty of strawberries left over. To ensure that she didn’t waste any, the woman would head to her local foodbank after each season to share any leftovers.
Strawberry Thieves
However, the woman’s passion for strawberries did not come without its problems. “Lately I’ve had a big problem with all the neighborhood kids coming into my yard and stealing my strawberries”, she explained. “The last time I caught them, I threatened to call the police because they were so reckless and smashed over 50 of my plants.”
Repeat Offenders
To the woman’s shock, the same kids had recently returned to the scene of the crime, despite her threats of police involvement. She didn’t really want to call the police and knew they wouldn’t take the crime seriously, so she hatched a new plan.
Equipping Her Hose
With her hose in hand, the woman proceeded to not only water her strawberries as usual but also the offending children. She sprayed them relentlessly, chasing them out of her yard.
Dealing with the Consequences
To the woman’s surprise, her actions had consequences. “I just had a group of angry parents come to my house complaining about my actions”, she laughed. “Absolutely none of them were willing to apologize for their children’s actions.”
Threats of Legal Action
The woman found the situation rather funny, but her amusement quickly dropped when she was threatened with legal action. “One parent in particular is threatening to sue me because her son’s iPhone 10 was ruined with water!” she exclaimed.
Her Defense
However, the woman did not take this threat seriously. “I told her that was her problem for letting her eight-year-old son have a $1,000 phone”, she recounted. “Then I threatened to spray them with my hose if they didn’t get off of my property!”
Reflecting on Her Actions
Upon reflection, the woman firmly believed that she had done nothing wrong. She was simply protecting her property, and it was not her problem if a child’s phone was damaged in the process. However, the threats of legal action did make her question whether this time, her passion for strawberries had gone too far.

The woman recounted her actions on an online forum, whilst once again reiterating her sheer passion for strawberries. Thankfully, the online community defended her with equal passion. “I love this so much – you did nothing wrong”, defended one amused reader. “I have the utmost respect for the guardian of the strawberries.”

However, the light-hearted mood quickly became more serious when commenters started to suggest serious action. “You should probably get some security cameras – those kids are definitely going to start messing with you and your plants deliberately”, one reader suggested. “Best to buy a cage with a lock if you can to put over your plants.”
One reader reassured her that the police could take action. “Destroying your plants is vandalism of your property, so technically the police would have to take it seriously.”

The woman couldn’t believe it when people started bringing up legal action again. “You should talk to a lawyer, because that parent may end up going through with those threats”, someone else suggested. “There have been instances where spraying someone with water has been considered assault.
