The husband and wife had been planning a week-long trip to New Orleans for a few months.
The Wife Did the Majority of The Planning
She explained, “I spent the last few months researching what to do. I booked the hotel room, made reservations at places we wanted to try, I made a list of all the sites I wanted to see.”
The Husband Was Responsible for The Plane Tickets
The wife had told the husband that she would do most of the planning. He just had to buy the plane tickets and make sure he had the week off from work for their trip.
The Wife Checked in With Him Every Few Weeks
She explained, “Every few weeks, I would check in with my husband to see if he had asked for the time off and bought the tickets yet, he would say he was waiting for the plane ticket prices to go down.”
He Had Forgotten to Buy the Plane Tickets
She reminded him again and he confessed that he had taken the week off from work but had forgotten to buy the plane tickets. They checked online and saw that the ticket prices had gone up and were very expensive. The husband said that he would wait for the prices to go down again.
The Husband Wanted to Cancel the Trip
A couple of weeks later, the wife asked again if he had bought the plane tickets and he said no. She explained, “We looked again and the prices were still high. He said he wasn’t willing to spend that much on them”. He suggested canceling the trip, despite the money that she would lose.
He Suggested a Staycation Instead
She disagreed with the staycation, “I told him I was not willing to cancel everything because I spent so much time planning it.” They continued to argue and couldn’t come up with a resolution.
The Wife Ended up Going Without Him
She bought a plane ticket for herself and went on the trip without her husband. He was upset with her and was surprised that she didn’t want to stay home with him. He suggested getting himself a ticket but she told him that he would have to get his own hotel room.
