A Woman’s Best Friend Plagiarized Her Essay to Get Into Her Dream College, so The Woman Got Revenge bu Snitching on Her Friend

A 19-year-old sophomore in college had a best friend named Tia, who was preparing to apply for college scholarships. However, the young sophomore found herself embroiled in a disheartening situation when she realized that Tia had been taking a dishonest path toward her dream scholarship.

A Helping Hand

The young woman had played a pivotal role in aiding Tia during the rigorous college application process, generously sharing valuable tips and guidance. This had particularly involved the finer points of essay writing techniques, which the woman was well versed in.

Thanks to the woman’s help, Tia had great success with her applications. “She ended up getting in early action to her top college, and she got a full scholarship”, the woman explained. “I was happy for her until recently.”

The turning point arrived during a conversation with a mutual friend. “She started gushing about how Tia’s essay was so heartfelt and beautiful”, she recounted. “I asked to see it because I thought she had just forgotten to show me.”

The Realization

The woman was distraught when the essay was painfully familiar. “The essay was one of MY college essay drafts which I’d shown to Tia for reference on writing TECHNIQUES ONLY. I made this clear.”

Blatant Plagiarism

The most troubling thing to the woman was the blatant and completely unedited plagiarism of Tia’s essay. Tia had barely edited the essay at all, which was particularly disingenuous considering the personal nature of the woman’s writing.

Gathering Evidence

Consumed by a mix of anger and betrayal, the young woman felt compelled to act. She meticulously gathered evidence documenting her contributions throughout Tia’s college application journey, including proof of sending the specific essay draft to her.

Armed with irrefutable evidence, the woman made her decision and brought the matter to the school’s attention. Whilst she recognized this as a betrayal of her friend, she felt betrayed herself and believed it to be unethical and borderline illegal for Tia to successfully receive such a desirable scholarship without doing the work herself.

Drastic Consequences

After showing the evidence to the school, Tia swiftly faced severe consequences. She had not only lost her hard-won scholarship but also her cherished seat at her dream school. This devastating outcome hit Tia particularly hard, as she held the distinction of being the first in her family to secure a college admission, along with an academic and athletic scholarship.

Facing Public Backlash

There was no hiding what the woman had done to Tia, and her friends soon became aware of it. “People are calling me dramatic and shaming me for robbing her of her education”, the woman explained. “Everyone was rooting for her, including me at one time.”

Internal Struggle

The woman experienced deep and conflicting feelings as a result of her actions. “I feel terrible”, she started. “I feel like she took advantage of me, but I didn’t want to be the cause of something so horrible. I did myself justice but at the cost of someone’s dreams. Now I’m wondering if what I did was justified or not.”

The Verdict

The woman headed to her favorite internet forum for a verdict, telling her story and opening up the comments sections for anyone to pitch their opinion. Thankfully, she was rigorously defended. “She stole, she plagiarized, and she took the spot of someone actually deserving”, someone commented. “This is all on her; you did nothing wrong.”

One reader pointed out that regardless of the woman’s actions, it probably didn’t change as much as she felt it did. “If she is plagiarizing just to get in, she would definitely not survive her first semester in college”, they justified. “Most colleges have a no-nonsense policy with stealing other’s works, so don’t feel too bad.”

She Didn’t Earn it

The verdict was unanimous – the woman had acted fairly, and Tia was deeply in the wrong. “Tia copied your essay, which is plagiarism and a dishonest way of getting into college”, another commenter stated. “It sucks she lost her acceptance and full ride, but she didn’t really earn it in the first place if she cheated to get in.”
