Samantha used to work a stressful job with hard hours and terrible co-workers, and she was supplementing her income by renting out the third bedroom in her house to a girl who paid her $700 every month and split the utilities in half with her.

However, things got really bad at work, and Samantha decided to quit her job. She cleaned out the guest room and rented it out, but her roommate was unhappy because she didn’t want to share a bathroom. Samantha pointed out that her roommate’s share of the utilities would go down, but she didn’t seem to care.
A Professional Homeowner
Samantha was now paying about $100 a month for her mortgage, plus the rent from both girls, and living off of her savings while she looked for a new job. When her roommate noticed that Samantha wasn’t going into work anymore, she accused her of being a “professional homeowner” and a leech.
