A Woman Thought Her Company Wasn’t Training New Staff Properly, so She Decided to Take Matters Into Her Own Hands, Was She Meddling or Motivated?

A woman grew concerned about how her company was hiring underqualified individuals, so when her boss was on vacation she took matters into her own hands. Here is what she had to say:

She Thought The New Hires Weren’t Qualified

The woman said, “I’m 28 years old. There are so many new kids getting hired and none of them are qualified. This used to be a field that required a directly related degree, and now it feels like they are so desperate for bodies they are hiring kids off the street, and giving them no training.”

She Disagreed With Her Boss’s Approach

The woman’s director took an excessively lenient approach, failing to correct mistakes or provide proper guidance to the inexperienced newcomers. However, the woman disagreed with this approach.

She Thought It Would Cause Long-Term Problems

She believed these problems needed to be addressed as they came up and saw the potential consequences of allowing them to remain unaddressed.

She Was Worried

She explained, “I think these people need to be corrected or we are essentially “breeding in the problems for future employees” meaning we let this be a problem for new kids, then they “train” the next batch with the same or worse problems, and it never gets fixed till the business goes under.”

She Thought The Company Was In Decline

So, when her director went on vacation, the woman seized the chance to address these issues. She wanted to make a positive change at work and was worried about what she saw as the slow decline of the company she had once loved working for.

She Took Matters Into Her Own Hands

In her attempt to guide a 25-year-old colleague, she corrected him calmly five times when he wasn’t doing his work correctly. However, on the sixth instance, he lashed out in anger, claiming he shouldn’t be treated like a child. In response, the woman told him his behavior was the same as a tantrum-throwing baby.

She Wasn’t Enjoying Her Job

The woman said, “Please understand that I work in a drama-filled unprofessional field as is. But I used to love my job. It’s what I went to school for, and I want to see it thrive. And lately, I can feel it dying.”

She Got Into A Confrontation

The situation escalated further when the employee, in a fit of rage, confronted her by standing over her and throwing paper. This incident triggered a series of meetings involving HR and other management personnel.

Was The Woman In The Wrong?

During a meeting attended by several other managers, she declared her intention to leave, stating that her last day would be December 3rd, and then got up and left the room.

Also, you’re 28 and referring to 25-year-olds as “kids”? The gross, condescending attitude you’re showing toward them makes it clear you’re at least partially at fault here.”
