They Went To A Restaurant
She decided to take her sister’s family out for dinner and insisted on paying. The group included her sister, her brother-in-law, his mom who lived with them, herself, and three kids aged 15, 12, and 10.
Her Nephew Picked A Big Meal
They went to a steak place in their city that she had always wanted to try. When they looked at the menu, her 15-year-old nephew immediately chose the tomahawk steak. She warned him that it was a huge portion, three pounds of meat, and came with three sides. She suggested he pick something smaller.
It Was Expensive
Her brother-in-law insisted that his kid could handle it and reminded her that she had offered to pay. The tomahawk steak cost $190.
She agreed but made a deal that if her nephew couldn’t finish it all, her brother-in-law would have to pay for it. He agreed to the deal.
The Steak Wasn’t Meant For One Person
They placed their orders, and the waiter informed them that the tomahawk steak was usually meant for sharing since it came with three shareable side portions.
But He Was Confident
She asked her brother-in-law one more time if he was sure about their choice. He smiled confidently at his son and said it was no problem.
He Couldn’t Eat It All
When the food arrived, the tomahawk steak and sides took up almost half of the table. Unfortunately, her nephew could only eat a small portion of the steak and barely touched the sides.
The Bill Came
When it was time to pay the bill, she asked to pay for all the meals, drinks, and the tip. However, she requested a separate bill for the tomahawk steak, which her brother-in-law had to cover.
She explained what happened next, “He paid with ill grace. My sister said that he used the budget that they had earmarked to take the family to see the new Spiderman movie.”
It Caused Family Tension
She felt a mix of guilt and frustration. She thought her brother-in-law was taking advantage of her generosity, while he believed she was being unfair by making him pay for something that went to waste.
