A woman’s boyfriend asked her to cover the costs of items for his son, but one day he asked for her bank account details so he could buy his son a gaming console. The woman refused, and things escalated. Here is what she had to say:
She And Her Boyfriend Were On Good Terms
The woman explained, “I am 31 and have been with my 37-year-old boyfriend for 8 months. He has three kids and is a single dad. We’re on pretty good terms regarding almost everything. When it comes to money and spending, we’d take turns inviting each other out weekly (we don’t live together, obviously).”
He Expected Her To Pay
However, a problem arose over her boyfriend’s requests for her to pay for his kid’s purchases on several occasions. These purchases usually amounted to $30 – $60. The woman didn’t say anything about these purchases, but she was aware that the costs were adding up.
But She Didn’t Mind
Nevertheless, the woman loved her boyfriend and enjoyed spending time with his kids, so she didn’t mind spending this sort of money.
He Needed More Money
One day, her boyfriend called her while she was at work, sounding rushed, and expressed his desire to buy a gaming device for his oldest son. He asked the author for $300, claiming that he was short on money.
They Argued
Initially hesitant, the woman eventually agreed to lend him the money. However, when the boyfriend insisted on getting her bank account information to withdraw the money, she became uncomfortable and refused. However, her boyfriend became angry about this and started yelling down the phone until the woman had had enough and hung up the phone.
Things Escalated
Later, when the woman returned home, she found her boyfriend waiting outside, still upset. He questioned why she didn’t simply send him the account information. The woman explained that “I told him I don’t feel comfortable letting anyone have my personal information, especially when it comes to finances. He got offended and said, “I’M NOT JUST ANYONE, I’M YOUR PARTNER!”
He Blamed her
Her boyfriend then went on a rant to her about how he didn’t buy the gaming device in the end, that he had been looking at it for so long, and that his kid was now angry at him and it was all her fault.
He Left
This argument continued for a while until the boyfriend decided to leave and demand an apology from the woman for both him and his son.

The woman didn’t think her actions were deserving of such a response, and she had been perfectly reasonable about things. However, doubt crept into her mind, so she turned to the internet for advice.
