Unfortunately, Abby wasn’t able to improve her grades and therefore she couldn’t get a scholarship to cover the cost of attending the college she wanted to attend. Abby was upset as despite not getting the grades she needed, she had worked hard and had set her heart on attending her dream university.
His Uncle Left Him A Big Inheritance
Earlier in the year, the man’s uncle passed away, leaving a sizable inheritance to him and his siblings. The man had not initially mentioned this inheritance to Abby, but Abby found out through her mother.
She Hoped They Would Spend It On Her Education
Upon learning about the inheritance, Abby became elated, assuming that her parents could now afford to pay for her college education, which would open the door to the college she dreamed of attending.
But He Refused
However, the man reiterated to his daughter that the agreement remained the same—Abby had to find a way to finance her education, and she should apply to colleges that would offer more accessible financial options.
Her Mom Took Her Side
Abby reacted strongly to this response, displaying anger and disappointment. Her mother, sympathetic to Abby’s desires, supported her reaction and accused the man of being unreasonable.
She Was Very Upset
Since their conversation, Abby has been visibly upset. The man explained, “Abby hasn’t been out of her room much since the conversation and has refused to look at me. I think she is being childish and entitled, while she is accusing me of “clipping her wings”.”
