Even after verifying multiple times with her husband, they realized they had genuinely won a life-changing, multi-generational sum of money.
They Decided Not To Tell Anyone
Making a pact to keep this news under wraps, they decided to wait a few months before taking any action. During this time, they didn’t make any extravagant purchases or change their lifestyle. The woman said, “We fantasized about what to do with our money but the time to claim is drawing near so we have begun having more practical discussions about how to claim it and what to do with it.”
Her Husband Wanted To Share The Money
It was during these discussions, that her husband, Adam, brought up an idea that caused a rift between them. He proposed sharing a portion of the money, one-third to be exact, with his best friend and business partner, Tim.
He Was Very Close With His Friend
The woman explained, “Tim and Adam have been friends since they were in middle school and have done everything together ever since. Together they’ve started businesses, worked together, invested money, moved to the same town, and have often dreamed about our families making it big together.”
He Made His Argument
Her husband believed that since their families had taken risks together and were so close, it was fair that Adam received a third of the money. He told her that it would mean they weren’t embarking on this journey alone, and that by offering Tim a share, the sudden influx of wealth would be less suspicious, given their long history of ventures together.
But She Was Against The Idea
However, the woman was not keen on her husband’s idea. She explained, “Tim’s family tends to be more flashy and like showing off, and I don’t fully trust that they will keep it quiet or modest enough to not raise suspicion. This is important because I’ve seen community members harass and attack people with far less money just because they feel entitled.”

The woman felt this could jeopardize the safety of her family, and she wanted to avoid that at all costs. She also wasn’t comfortable with his plan to add Tim and his wife as members of the limited liability company they would use to claim the prize.
