A woman’s neighbors block her car in, insult her and try to auction her parking spaces without consulting her. But she refused to budge on selling them her parking spaces. Here’s what she had to say:
She Spent A Lot Of Money On Parking Spaces
The woman explained, “I am currently single. I purchased a nice big apartment in a quiet neighborhood a few years ago and along with it I also got 3 parking spaces (each for about $25,000). This is a lot of money but at the time I figured parking was bad and it was about to get worse in terms of availability.”
She Now Had Free Parking Spaces
At the time, the woman shared the apartment with her now ex-boyfriend. She shared her parking spots with him, and they used all three. However, since their breakup, she found herself with two available parking spaces as she traveled extensively and let her cousin use one of her cars.
She Gave A Space To Her Neighbor
In a gesture of goodwill, she offered the parking spots to her friendly neighbor, Sky, at a significantly discounted rate of $100, even though the market rate for each space was substantially higher.
Her Neighbors Were Petty
However, her other neighbors were not so pleased. She owned a big BMW and parked it in one of her smaller spots. That night, her neighbors blocked her car in. The woman confronted them about it and was shocked by their response.
So She Got Their Cars Towed
The woman explained, “I got the answer ‘You are smart enough to leave your car there, you should be smart to get it out. Don’t you have a million cars? Go drive something else.’ I got them towed and they screamed and complained so that was fun.”
They Decided To Auction Her Parking Spots
As a result, relations with these neighbors soured, and the woman no longer considered them friends. As Sky began using the available parking spaces, it caught the attention of the other neighbors. They held a building association meeting without inviting her, and in her absence, decided that the parking situation was unfair. They requested a “rent auction” for the parking spots to determine who would pay the most for them, arguing that some families had children, unlike Sky.
The Woman Wasn’t Happy
The woman discussed the matter with Sky, who kindly agreed to relinquish one of the larger parking spaces. Nevertheless, the other neighbors were displeased, as they wanted the spacious spot for its shaded location, perfect for setting up play areas for their kids. The woman expressed her concern that she might eventually return to use the spot and didn’t want anyone to invest in it.
They Argued
In response, the neighbors called her selfish and used derogatory and sexist language against her. Hurt and upset, she engaged in a heated exchange with one of the mothers who had previously made unkind comments about her appearance and life choices.
Was The Woman In The Wrong?
Now, her relationship with the neighbors is strained, with Sky being the only one who still communicates with her. Feeling isolated and seeking advice, she wonders if she should give in to their demands and hand over the parking spot they want. She questioned whether she is in the wrong for standing her ground and not accommodating their wishes.
