A Woman Photoshopped the Color of Her Niece’s Dress in Her Wedding Photos, So Now Her Family is Accusing Her of Body Shaming

A woman’s decision to photoshop her niece’s dress to a different color without consulting her sister-in-law sparks accusations of body shaming and causes wedding drama. Here is what she had to say:

She Got Married

“So I (30-year-old woman) got married, yay! Honestly, it was my dream wedding, everything went off without a hitch. Except for one small thing; my niece’s (16 years old) dress.”

The woman explained that her niece’s dress was knee-length, white, and lacy. It even had lace elbow-length gloves to match. It resembled a wedding dress itself!

She Focused On Enjoying Her Wedding

She chose not to address the matter right then and there, opting instead to push it aside and focus on the rest of her special day. However, when she received the initial photographs from the photographer, her heart sank at the sight of her niece standing beside her in the white dress.

They Turned To Photoshop

Seeing her distress, her husband empathized and suggested an idea. He proposed paying extra to have her niece’s dress color digitally altered to a light blue shade using Photoshop. After careful consideration, they decided to go ahead with the plan, since they still had some budget remaining.

Last week, they finally received the finalized photos, and to their relief, the outcome was fantastic! The alterations had been skillfully done, almost concealing the fact that her niece had originally worn white. She still looked beautiful and elegant.

And Wanted To Share Their Special Day On Social Media

Eager to share the joy of her wedding day, she posted some of the edited photos on social media.

But This Sparked An Argument

Unexpectedly, her sister-in-law (the niece’s mother) sent her an angry message, expressing her frustration at not being consulted before digitally altering her daughter’s appearance.

Accusations flew, insinuating that she considered her niece unattractive they were body shaming her. But, only the dress and gloves were photoshopped, not her niece’s body.

Were They In The Wrong?

This left her questioning her decision. Was she truly at fault? Is she the one in the wrong for making the decision without consulting her sister-in-law? She turned to the internet for their opinion.

The Internet Responded

One person said, “If she didn’t want the dress to be photoshopped, she shouldn’t have let her daughter attend a wedding in a lacy white dress! The nerve of that woman!”

Another person agreed, “They were wrong to have her wearing white to a wedding to begin with. Instead of getting mad and making a scene, you and your husband used logic (and technology) to fix the problem in the photos. Great thinking!”
