The woman explained, “I have always had a very strained relationship with my brother. He had a very bad accident when he was 17 and spend 3 months in a coma. Ever since he’s been a child my parents swooned over him and they make excuses for everything he does; I’ve been to therapy because of this for over a decade as I resented him for my parents forgetting about me when I was younger, even though I love my parents to death.”
Her Brother’s Son Was A Practically Raised By Her Parents
Her brother’s son was also very close with her parents, as his mother passed away during childbirth, and due to the brother’s disability, her parents took on a lot of the childcare.
Her Parents Wanted To Divide The Inheritance
Recently, her parents met with a lawyer to draft their will, considering their declining health. With only a house and a car as significant assets, they wanted to divide the inheritance among the woman, her brother, and her nephew.
But The Woman Was Upset
Her parents explained that they wanted to include the nephew as well since they had essentially raised him and considered him their child too. The woman was upset, however, and said “That’s not fair as I have two kids as well and if my nephew is in the will, they should as well.”
And Her Parents Sided With Her
Her brother told her it was their parent’s decision, but the woman disagreed. Eventually, the parents sided with her and decided not to allocate a share for the nephew.
They Argued
The woman explained what happened next, “My brother called it a giant jerk move and called me petty to punish my nephew for the resentment I have towards him. We broke out into a fight that my parents had to, unfortunately, break up.”
