She Got on Well with Her Sister-In-Law, Apart from One Thing
She explained, “I have an older brother who is married. I get along with my sister-in-law well, except for this one point: if you don’t keep an eye on her, she will get into the kitchen, and add seasonings to whatever is cooking. She thinks she is fixing stuff, but not all foods need turmeric in them.”
She Made Tomato Sauce
One Saturday, the woman received 40 lbs of tomatoes and she spent the entire weekend making sauce to be canned. Her plan was to keep the sauce plain and add specific seasonings and herbs later, depending on the recipe.
The Sister-In-Law Started Seasoning
When her brother and his wife visited to pick up spare clothes for their child, the sister-in-law managed to sneak into the kitchen within the five minutes it took her to retrieve the clothes she had added salt, pepper, turmeric, olive oil, garlic powder, and Italian herbs to all five pots of simmering sauce on the stove.
She Couldn’t Believe It
Confronting her, the woman couldn’t believe her sister-in-law’s audacity. The sister-in-law claimed she added the seasonings for flavor. “Like I’ve never told her to not touch what I was cooking before”, the woman said.
She Asked Them to Leave
Consumed by anger, she knew she couldn’t have a calm conversation with her sister-in-law. Instead, she approached her brother and firmly asked him to leave with the clothes and his wife, informing him that his wife was no longer welcome in her house.
Her Brother Replaced the Tomatoes
The sister-in-law followed, clearly shocked, and began apologizing. However, she chose to ignore her. She instructed her brother to return the next day to collect the ruined sauce, or it would be discarded, along with the expectation that he would provide 40 lbs of replacement tomatoes.
The Sister-In-Law Apologised
They left, and her brother returned with the tomatoes, a letter of apology from the sister-in-law, and a carrot cake (her favorite). However, she remained resolute in her decision.
Memorial Day Would Have to Take Place Elsewhere
Now, her parents have gotten involved since she’s usually the one who hosts gatherings. She informed them that alternative plans, at someone else’s house, should be made for Memorial Day since the sister-in-law is not allowed in her house.
