A 22-year-old woman lived with her 18-year-old sister and wandered into her bedroom one day to retrieve an item of clothing. However, she discovered something shocking upon walking inside, something that she never could have expected.
An Innocent Favor
One evening, the woman entered her sister’s bedroom with an innocent reason. “I just wanted to grab a top she had borrowed,” she explained. “We do this all the time – borrow clothes and go into each other’s rooms to get them back.”
A Shocking Discovery
However, the woman’s priority of retrieving the borrowed top quickly disappeared. On her sister’s computer screen, she was shocked to see a social media profile with her own face on it.
A Double Take
The woman could not believe what she was seeing. “I had to do a double take because it really caught me off guard,” she recounted. “I know I shouldn’t have, but I snooped at the profile and it was just pictures of myself – my sister literally has a fake social media account of me.”
Valuing Her Privacy
Naturally, the woman was furious, but she was particularly angry due to her dislike of social media. She did not have profiles on such platforms because she was a private person, and didn’t like to share images of herself on the internet.
Secret Photos
To make matters worse, the woman discovered that several of the pictures found on the fake profile had been taken without the woman even knowing. Others were photos that the woman had sent to her friends, which her sister had somehow accessed without her permission.
Deleting the Photos
The woman’s immediate reaction was to obliterate the fake profile. She started deleting any photos she could find on the profile, as well as any other posts and information.
A Creepy Folder
Once she had deleted the profile pictures, the woman started snooping around her sister’s computer and discovered a folder containing dozens of her photos. Not only were some of these pictures of her, but her sister had also saved pictures of the woman’s friends.
Sensitive Photos
Things only got worse. The woman even found revealing pictures of herself that she had sent to her boyfriend, pictures that were meant to be for the couple’s eyes only.
Taking Action
The woman immediately deleted the entire folder and any other files containing her pictures. She then proceeded to change the fake profile’s picture to a picture of her sister, changed the name, and created a post reading “This is the real me.”
The Sister’s Tears
Not long after, the woman’s sister had discovered that she had been found out. “I’ve heard her sobbing from her room all day, but I’m too angry and embarrassed to even confront her right now,” the woman lamented.
Reflecting on Her Actions
Naturally, the woman felt that her actions were completely justified considering that her privacy had been seriously violated by her sister. However, she recognized that her sister was ashamed and remorseful, so she began to wonder whether she should have confronted her, instead of publicly shaming her on her own fake profile.
The Internet’s Thoughts
Conflicted, the woman described the recent events on an internet forum, asking the community whether she had been wrong to mess with the sister’s fake profile. Unsurprisingly, everyone defended her. “Everything you did is completely justified, that’s a shocking level of obsession and immaturity,” one reader responded. “Sorry, but your sibling is messed up.”
An Insane Sister
Everyone united in their shock and disgust for the sister’s bizarre actions. “There’s something seriously wrong with your sister,” one person pointed out. “She has probably been cat-fishing using that account and it might even be identity theft depending on how far this goes. You were absolutely not in the wrong here.”
A Justified Reaction
Whilst some readers agreed with the woman that she could have handled the situation better, they forgave her given the circumstances. “You could’ve just confronted her rather than being petty and uploading a picture of her, but I don’t think anyone would blame you for that,” one commenter defended. “She did MUCH worse to you.”
