Her Toxic Colleague Tried to Blame Her for All Her Own Failings at Work, so The Woman Reported It to Her Supervisor, but Nothing Changed – Would You Take It Further?

A woman had had enough of her toxic colleague’s behavior, which included not doing her job properly and trying to pin the blame on the woman. However, even though they were both called into their manager’s office – nothing seemed to be done about her behavior. Here is what she had to say:

She Had A Toxic Coworker

The woman explained, “I work with a coworker who has been and is known to be very toxic. And by toxic, I mean she will come to the office and spend her first hour ‘wiping’ down her desk, getting coffee, and socializing with other departments while I hold fort taking care of customers.”

She Didn’t Do Her Job Properly

When her co-worker finally sat down at her desk, she would waste even more time by pretending to have computer problems for about 20 minutes!

She would also delay attending to customers by claiming she wasn’t ready or by having extended conversations with one client, while the woman managed a significantly higher workload. Management was aware of her behavior but only provided her with “coaching sessions” as a response.

She Tried To Pin The Blame On The Woman

But things were about to get worse, as the woman explained, “During one of our monthly meetings with our Supervisor, my coworker said that some things needed to change and then insinuated that I did all the things she usually does, like talking to customers too long, not signing into computers immediately, etc. To make matters worse, she lied and said, I did something to a customer, and I immediately disputed it.”

She Called Her Out On Her Lies

The woman contested her co-workers’ lies, and the supervisor called the coworker’s bluff. Still, they didn’t fully address the issue and suggested they “agree to disagree” and maintain a peaceful working relationship.

She Took Things Further

The woman wasn’t willing to let the false accusations slide, however. So she took a screenshot of her customer interactions to prove her coworker wrong. When she showed this to her coworker, they responded dismissively, stating, “Let’s agree to disagree.”

She Thought Something Was Going To Be Done About It

Infuriated, the woman forwarded the evidence to the supervisor and her coworker’s manager, refusing to accept a mere “agree to disagree” resolution. The manager took the matter seriously and summoned both of them to address the issue.

But She Still Got Away With It

The coworker received no formal warning, despite the fact that lots of other colleagues had complained about her. The woman noted her dangerous and calculating nature, however, and was sure to tread carefully from then on.

She Reported Her To The Governing Body

In the following days, the toxic coworker made a severe mistake with a customer, which violated industry regulations and required intervention from higher-ups to resolve. Surprisingly, there was no apparent written warning for her actions, which prompted the woman to report the violation anonymously to the governing board. An investigation ensued, and the organization was penalized, yet the toxic coworker remained employed, continuing to cause disruption.

Was The Woman In The Wrong?

The woman now contemplated documenting and reporting every violation her coworker committed in hopes of getting her fired. She wondered if she was in the wrong for her actions.
