His stepdaughters conspired to stop his daughter from coming with them all on vacation, but he figured out their plan and came up with a plot of his own. Here’s what he had to say:
They All Lived Together
The man explained, “I’ve been married to my wife Beth for 5 years. I have a biological daughter named Jessica (she’s 18). And I also have two stepdaughters named Monica and Leah. They’re 25 & 28. Both are single moms and live with us currently.”
She Babysat For Their Kids
Jessica used to babysit for Monica and Leah’s children, but because they didn’t pay her much, she stopped doing it. So, Beth offered to babysit for them instead, which worked out fine.
They Wanted Jessica to Stay at Home
The man had organized a family vacation and was excited for everyone to go. Beth, however, wasn’t keen for her grandchildren to join them on the trip. Monica and Leah, therefore wanted Jessica to stay at home and look after their children.
They Wouldn’t Back Down
The man wasn’t happy about that, but Monica and Leah insisted that their kids were used to Jessica and that hiring another babysitter might cause problems. They also claimed to him Jessica didn’t like the vacation destination and didn’t want to go. However, the man thought it was “obvious that Jessica wanted to go.”
But He Put His Foot Down
His stepdaughters kept on insisting that Jessica stay to look after their kids, and Beth even offered to pay her double to stay behind. The man explained, “There was a lot of back and forth on this until I demanded they stop bringing it up.” In the end, an alternative babysitter was found.
They Couldn’t Find Jessica’s Passport
On the day of the trip, they packed their bags and went to the airport. But, when they arrived, Jessica couldn’t find her passport. The man said they needed to go back home and look for it there, and they left the airport. When they got back, they searched everywhere for the passport but couldn’t find it.
They Were Acting Strange
Beth and the man’s stepdaughters kept insisting they go back to the airport otherwise they would miss their flight. The stepdaughters then started insisting that Jessica stayed at home with their kids, and even told the new babysitter that she was no longer needed and that she should go home. The man started to become suspicious of their behavior.
They Confessed
He told them he wasn’t going to leave until he found Jessica’s passport, and at this point, his stepdaughters confessed to the truth. They had hidden her passport so she couldn’t go on vacation and would stay home to look after their kids!
He Was Furious
The man explained what happened next, “I was livid I tried to get Monica to tell me where it was but she said Leah had it, Leah denied it, so I threatened to cancel the vacation and that’s when they gave it back.” However, the man was so angry he decided to cancel the whole vacation and “blew up at both of them and berated them.”
Was He In The Wrong?
His stepdaughters then went upstairs and his wife refused to speak to him, saying he had “ punished my stepdaughters for worrying about their kids and wanting them to stay with someone they know. I got told I overreacted and ruined the trip for everybody.”
