‘I’m Going to Build the Pool with Or without Your Signature’ His Neighbor Demanded He Sign Over His Driveway to Her so That She Could Build a Swimming Pool for Her Kids

In a quiet suburban neighborhood, an unexpected feud between neighbors suddenly erupted. Here is what the man had to say:

He Didn’t Know His Neighbor Well

The man said, “I was having a great morning with my wife and kids when my neighbor texted me. We have never spoken in the 6-7 years that we have lived here, and she has always given me and my family dirty looks.”

The man’s house had a long driveway, with the shared portion at the bottom serving as the access route to both neighboring garages. The man did not know the neighbor well, but he knew she had unruly children and didn’t do anything to rein them in.

She Received An Unexpected Request

The man received an unexpected text from the neighbor. She wanted the rights to the man’s driveway because she wanted to build a swimming pool for her children. The man was taken back by the woman’s brass neck and told her there was no way he was signing over his driveway.

Things Escalated

The rejection did not sit well with the neighbor, and the conversation grew heated and, at times, immature. Matters escalated when the neighbor resorted to making threatening and racist comments about the man’s children.

He Had A Petty Response

In retaliation, the man took a petty turn. After discovering rumors of the neighbor’s infidelity, he couldn’t resist bringing up this sensitive topic during the dispute.

The man explained what happened next, “I went out with my family earlier today. When we got home, she had blocked off our driveway with traffic cones. I moved them over to block her garage and texted her to let her know.”

The Conversation Escalated

The man texted the neighbor, and the conversation once again became heated. The man wound the neighbor up, and the neighbor became increasingly angry, demanding the man sign over the driveway and calling him selfish when he refused.

The neighbor then started repeatedly calling the man’s phone. She left an unpleasant voicemail, in which she threatened to build the pool with or without the man’s approval.

Growing increasingly frustrated with his neighbor, the man turned to the internet for advice. He wanted to remain firm against his neighbor but didn’t want to escalate things too far, as he would have to keep living next to her.

The Internet Responded

One person said, “What the hell, man? Going to take your driveway and your house? Where do people get this sense of entitlement? I would get the property lines marked and build a brick wall. Make sure to have a mural of a pool painted on the outside so she can see what it would have looked like.”

Another Person Commented

Another person said, “I would check with whatever council or department is in charge of this kind of stuff. I wouldn’t put it past her to forge your signature to get what she wants for her precious angels. This kind of person doesn’t think rules apply to them and thinks they won’t get caught.”
