Her Parents Had to Go Away
When her mom and stepdad had to urgently visit her grandparents due to an emergency, she was left in charge of her younger twin siblings (an 8-year-old girl and an 8-year-old boy).
She Invited Friends Over
She had planned to invite two friends over, and her parents agreed. One of her friends brought her boyfriend, Mike.
She Doesn’t Like Mike
Although she usually didn’t mind having more people around, she didn’t really like him. She thought he was mean sometimes and blamed it on his autism, but she admitted she didn’t know much about it.
Her Brother Started to Show Off His Gymnastics
Her sister played in the special playroom, but her brother got bored and wanted attention. Lately, he was really into getting strong, having muscles, and getting abs. He did gymnastics and other stuff, like cartwheels, until he got a little dizzy.
Her Brother Asked Questions
Then he sat on her lap, showed her his arms, and asked if they looked bigger. Even though he was only 8 and still had small arms, she said, “Wow, they’re totally getting bigger!”
Mike Insulted Her Brother
Suddenly, Mike interrupted and said, “Nah, your arms are like noodles, dude.” Her brother didn’t really understand what he meant, so he ignored it. But she felt upset. She quietly told Mike to be quiet, but he said he was just telling the truth and that her brother had to do a lot more to get real muscles. He didn’t care that her brother was only 8.
Mike Continued to Be Rude
Ignoring Mike’s negativity, her brother decided to show them another gymnastics move, maybe a round-off. Everyone clapped except Mike. He said, “That was disappointing.” Then he added, “No offense, but your brother isn’t impressive at all. He’s too skinny.”
She Got Angry
At that point, she was really mad, so she sarcastically said, “I’d like to see you try to do what he did with your fat body.” Mike got really upset, and his girlfriend gasped like what she said was really bad.
Mike’s Girlfriend Thought She Went Too Far
She wondered why his girlfriend didn’t get upset when Mike insulted her little brother. Mike got in her face and called her mean names before leaving. His girlfriend told her she went too far, especially because she knew he had autism, and she couldn’t believe she made fun of his weight when he wasn’t even that fat. She even said her brother was annoying. Another friend who was there agreed that Mike was rude, but thought she might have done too much.
The Girl Asked for Advice
Unsure whether she had fat-shamed Mike, she went to the internet for advice.
