A woman in her 30s was borrowing her parent’s vehicle while hers was in the shop when she accidentally hit a stranger’s car. She left a note but received no messages and was starting to think that she had got away with it.
She Hit a Car

The woman said, ‘So, last weekend at work I hit a parked car in the parking lot.’
It Was Her Parent’s Car

Her car’s back window was broken and she asked to borrow her parents vehicle whilst she waited for hers to be fixed. They didn’t use theirs often as it was a spare car they kept at their vacation home in the woman’s city. In fact, they were happy for their daughter to use it.
It Was a Huge SUV

The car was a huge SUV that her parents asked her to drive now and then anyway so that the battery would charge and the fluids would move around. The woman’s own car was a mid-sized Sedan, meaning she often felt out of her depth when driving her parent’s massive car.
It Was an Accident

One day, the woman was pulling into a parking spot at work when she accidentally hit a parked car. The larger turning radius of the SUV had thrown her off, but fortunately, there was no one in the car that she hit. She got out to take a look at the damage.
It Was Going to Cost Her

Although the damage was minor, it could still be seen on both cars. There was a little dent and paint scrapes on the stranger’s car that were extremely obvious. The woman promptly wrote a note with her details and left it on the front of the stranger’s car and left her vehicle parked beside it.
Days Passed and She Heard Nothing

Despite leaving her phone number, name, cube in her work office and a very sincere apology, the woman heard nothing. It was now Wednesday and the event had occurred the previous Saturday. She had noticed that the car had been moving to different spots in the parking lot, so surely the driver had seen the damage and the note?
What Was She to Do?

The woman said, ‘This is a big office building with hundreds of cars, there’s no way I knew the driver or could easily identify them’.
But Had They Seen the Note?

She didn’t know why the owner hadn’t contacted her. Over the prior days, there had been little wind or rain, and she didn’t think a third party would have removed her note. Her office was huge, so she couldn’t go room to room, asking who owned the recently dented car. Someone suggested to her that possibly the owner hadn’t contacted her on purpose.
They Might Have a Warrant

The woman’s friend told her that the owner may not have contacted the woman on purpose. After all, they might not want to notify the cops if they have a suspended license or warrant. But the woman felt bad…
It Was All Her Fault

As more days passed, the woman started feeling guilty. She had damaged someone else’s property. She had thought about leaving another note, but hadn’t she done enough? She asked the internet for advice.
The Internet Chimed in

One person said, ‘I’d maybe leave a note again with your info if it’s bugging you, but if you don’t hear anything, just let it go.’
Others Responded

Another commented, ‘You did your duty – the other person probably didn’t figure it was worth the bother.’
