A woman was about to turn 21 and inherit a fortune from her deceased grandma, but when her cousins asked her to share, she refused. Now, her whole family is harassing her.
Her Grandma Died
The woman said, ‘My Paternal Grandma died when I was 3, and my cousins ‘Connor’ and ‘Olivia’ were 7 and 4, respectively.’
She Left All Her Money To The Grandkids
Her grandma had left her entire fortune to her grandchildren in her will. At the time, she was unsure if her sons would have more children, so stated that the money be split between the woman’s father and uncle. But this meant a lot more for the woman.
She Was An Only Child
The woman was an only child, so she was to gain 50% of the fortune, whereas her cousins had only 25% each. By this point, her eldest cousin, Connor, was already 24 and had blown through his share of the money on parties and cars.
They Were About To Receive Their Fortunes
Since the age of 17, her uncle and cousins had asked the woman to consider sharing her half of the money so they were all even. They’d ask her about it at least twice a year, but when she and her cousin, Olivia, were about to turn 21, they started begging.
It Wasn’t Fair
Her cousins and uncle claimed that it was unfair for the woman to get such a vast fortune. Why couldn’t she split it so they all got 33%? When her uncle approached the woman’s parents for help, they said it was their daughter’s decision whether she wanted to share her fortune or not. Her cousins had been gifted cars when they turned 17, and she had had to buy her own! They’d all been spoilt in some way.

The woman said, ‘My dad’s aunt also constantly told my uncle that my dad was the favorite child, which has left my uncle with a chip on his shoulder.’
He Blew His Fortune
Her uncle started using this idea to try and secure the money for his kids, but the woman saw through it. She would not be guilted into giving her fortune to her cousins, who would most likely blow through it like they had before. Plus, she had plans to invest the money and take her friends on a trip!

At the end of the day, even if she didn’t share, her cousins had a mini-fortune on their hands. She felt that they should be grateful! But she wondered if her refusal would significantly impact their family dynamic, so she turned to the internet for advice.
