She Knew They Had No Legal Right
Every homeowner in the woman’s neighborhood used the public street parking if they didn’t have a driveway. It was common courtesy to only park in front of your house, despite no one owning the spaces.
It Was a Stranger
One day, the woman found a large van in her spot. She was surprised as it wasn’t any of her neighbor’s cars, and there was plenty of space on the other side of the road. She expected it to move soon, but it was still there seven days later.
She Thought it Was Abandoned
The woman was frustrated that she couldn’t access her parking spot. She looked up the area guidelines and found that a car was technically abandoned if it was parked on private property for 24 hours or left unattended on public or private property for over 48 hours.
