She considered downgrading her own flight if her boyfriend refused to share the expense of business class for her child.

The boyfriend perceived his girlfriend’s desire to sit with her child as peculiar. He believed it was an insignificant matter and thought she was hovering too much, labeling her a “helicopter parent.”

She acknowledged that he had been generous with her child on various occasions, so she was willing to make this compromise.
Reaching A Compromise
Eventually, the man agreed with the compromise that his girlfriend was proposing. He was insistent on indulging in the luxury of business class for himself during the long flight, regardless of her preferences. However, if the child was to join them in business class, his girlfriend would have to foot the bill.
