Her Father Died When She Was Young
The woman said, “My dad died when I was two and my mom raised me as a single mom with a series of boyfriends and eventually a new husband. She has always been obsessed with money and nowadays lives off of her half of my dad’s inheritance, which she invested in real estate.”
Her Mother Took Charge Of Her Inheritance
As for the woman’s share of the inheritance, her mother used it to purchase a house and an apartment, taking charge of her estate while she was still a minor. Living together in the house, the mother, her husband, and the woman made their home there, while the mother rented out the apartment to cover the costs of the woman’s private school education.
Some Relatives Suggested Her Mother Was In The Wrong
However, over the years, relatives had suggested that the mother and her husband had actually lived rent-free in the house that was purchased with the woman’s half of the inheritance.
They Said She Shouldn’t Have Lived In The House
According to these family members, the mother should have rented the house and saved that money for the woman until she turned eighteen.
She Spoke To Her Mother
The woman confronted her mother about this, expressing her concerns about how the house, which rightfully belonged to her, had been used by the mother and her husband without paying rent.
Her Mother Justified Her Behavior
She believed that the money from renting the house should have been saved for her. In response, the mother argued that since the woman was living in that house too, she didn’t owe her anything, and she justified using her half of the inheritance to provide her with a nice home during her upbringing.

Furthermore, the woman also brought up the issue of her education. She believed that her mother should have paid for her schooling herself, rather than using the rent money from the apartment that belonged to her. However, the mother disagreed, stating that there was nothing wrong with using the inheritance money for her education.
She Felt She Had Been Robbed
While the woman felt that her mother and her husband owed her money for the years they lived together in the inherited house, she was unsure if she was justified in making such a claim. The woman said, “I know being a single mom was not easy for her. She only remarried when I was 11. By saying all this I basically suggested that she robbed me.”
